About Our Place After School Care

Our Place After School Care provides a program of after school care for teens (ages 13-20) with disabilities. Teens are involved in making snacks and crafts, playing games, and building friendships. Teachers help them learn, explore, and create. They gain independence by learning vocational skills.

Concepts of habitation, socialization and age appropriateness depending on the needs of the individual

In this lesson, we will define habitation, socialization and age appropriateness in terms of what is needed by the individual.

Technology at Our Place

In this lesson, we will go over how to use Therup.

Dignity and respectful interactions with students

In this lesson, we will learn how to interact respectfully and dignified with students.

Student (individual) rights in accordance with state and federal laws

In this lesson, we will go over rights restrictions in relation to developmental disabilities.

Use of adaptive and augmentative devices used to support students as necessary

In this lesson, we will define the use of adaptive and augmentative devices and how they can be used to support students as necessary.

Professional Boundaries

In this lesson, we will define professional boundaries and apply them to real-life circumstances.

Time at Our Place

In this lesson, we will go over how to use Homebase and how to get a substitute.
